Pierre Lortie is the new chairman of Arianne Resources in Saguenay, QC. He is a senior business advisor at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP and a former top executive at Bombardier as well as president of the Montreal Stock Exchange. Lortie received an MBA with honours from the University of Chicago, a licence in applied economics from the Universite Louvain in Belgium, and a bachelor's degree in applied sciences (engineering physics) from Universite Laval. He holds an honorary doctorate in civil law from Bishop's University and was appointed Member of the Order of Canada in 2001.

Barrick Gold of Toronto has promoted Kevin Dushnisky to the position of senior executive VP. He will assume new responsibility for the oversight of Barrick Energy as well as retaining his duties relating to government relations, project permitting and approvals, corporate responsibility, investor relations, and communications.

Alan Gorman, hired in June 2012 as COO by Oceanic Iron Ore Corp., will add the responsibilities of president of the company to his mandate. Prior to joining Oceanic he was executive VP operations at Goldbrook Ventures.

Vancouver’s Oracle Mining Corp. says Alan Edwards has expanded his role with the company having been named CEO. He has been a director since October 2011. He is a veteran in mine development and operation. Oracle is working to reopen the Oracle Ridge copper mine in Arizona.

Red Ore Gold has appointed Larry Hoover as president and CEO. Former president and CEO Robin Dow will remain with the company as its chairman. Hoover is also a director of Red Ore.

The new president and CEO of Montreal-based SNC-Lavalin is Robert G. Card, effective Oct. 1, 2012.
