MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Auriga Gold and Sherritt

Mike Kernick is now the general manager at Toronto-based Auriga Gold's Maverick gold project near Flin Flon, MB. He brings over 20 years' experience in narrow vein mining to his new post.

Sherritt International of Toronto will shuffle its management team on Feb. 1, 2011, with three recent changes. Dean Chambers, senior VP and COO, will become executive VP development; Brian Tiessen, senior VP metals, will become executive VP operations; and Michael Robins will be promoted to senior VP and CFO.
