MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Avanti Mining, Carlisle Goldfields, Dundee, Goldgroup and Northern Iron

Michael Winship and Gordon Bogden have been appointed directors of Vancouver-based Avanti Mining.

Carlisle Goldfields of Toronto has invited Jennifer Boyle to join its board. She is a former CEO of St. Eugene Mining and is currently president and CEO of Satori Resources and president of Takara Resources.

The board of Dundee Precious Metals of Toronto has named David Rae senior VP operations. His experience covers Africa, Europe and Canada while he held increasingly senior roles with companies such as Falconbridge, Xstrata and, most recently, Andean American.

Vancouver's Goldgroup Mining has named Chester F. Millar chairman of the company, replacing Gregg J. Sedun, who will remain on the board. Dr. Hans von Michaelis will fill the role of president and CEO. Lastly, Michael Clark has replaced John J. Sutherland as CFO.

Northern Iron Corp. of Vancouver has appointed Cameron Tymstra as operations officer to oversee the proposed redevelopment of the Griffith iron ore mine in Ontario. He joined the company as technical  manager more than two years ago.
