Following the successful takeover of Toronto's Baffinland Iron Mines, winning bidders ArcelorMittal and Nunavut Iron Ore Acquisition have announced changes to the board of directors. Effective immediately, Richard D. McCloskey, Grant Edey, John W. Lydall, Russell Cranswick and Gordon Watts have resigned. The Baffinland board has been expanded to eleven directors and the open board seats have been filled by the following directors - Aditya Mittal (chair), Sudhir Maheshwari, Phil Du Toit (president and CEO), Peter Kukielski, Carole Whittall, Andre La Fleche, Bruce Walter and Jowdat Waheed.

Kria Resources of Toronto has named a new VP of operations, Paul Keller, whose background includes manager of technical services for a major Canadian mining contractor and COO of a Canadian base metal producer. The company recently received permits to begin construction at its Halfmile Lake base metal project near Bathurst, NB.

San Gold of Bissett, MB, has added George Pirie to its board of directors. As well as rising to the senior management level at several Canadian miners, he has serviced on the boards of the Mining Association of Canada, Ontario Mining Association, the Ontario Mineral Industry Cluster Council, and Mirarco.
