Belo Sun Mining of Toronto has added three individuals to its management team: Ian Pritchard as COO, Joaquim Alvarenga as general manager of operations in Brazil, and Donald W. Clarke as an advisor. Pritchard’s experience includes more than 20 years in North America and internationally, including with SNC-Lavalin and De Beers Canada.

John Budreski will be the CEO of the new company created to hold the North American assets of Erdene Resource Development and Advanced Primary Minerals. The new enterprise is tentatively named Morien Resources Corp.

Toronto’s Orvana Minerals’ new COO is Jim Jacques, who has been promoted from his post as VP operations to replace Agne Ahlenius. The company has also named Francisco Fimbres as director general and Jim Watt as director of operations at the EVBC gold and copper mine in northern Spain.

Roy Slack, president of Cementation Canada, has been named to Ontario’s newly formed incident Prevention Council. The Council will advise on the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses, developing a provincial occupational health and safety strategy, and proposing changes to funding and delivery of services to achieve accident prevention goals. The Prevention Council includes four employer representatives, four labour representatives, one non-union labour representative, an occupational health and safety expert and a representative from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

SNC-Lavalin, with headquarters in Montreal, has named Robert G. Card its new president and CEO, effective Oct. 1, 2012.
