MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Black Iron, Thompson Creek, Tyhee Gold and Vale

Black Iron Inc. of Toronto has named George A. Mover  its COO. He is the former project general director of Ferrexpo Yeristovo Mining. He will be based at Black Iron's Shymanivske project site in Krivoy Rog, Ukraine.

Scott Shellhaas has been promoted to the role of president at Thompson Creek Metals of Denver. He will retain his duties as COO.

Vancouver-based Tyhee Gold Corp., has named Brian K. Briggs as VP engineering and project manager for the Yellowknife gold project in the Northwest Territories. He holds both a BSc and MSc degree in engineering from the University of Wyoming.

Vale S.A. of Rio de Janeiro has announced that Murilo Ferreira has succeeded Roger Angelli as CEO, effective May 22, 2011. Ferreira joined the company in 1998.­
