Stephane Dubois is the new VP operations at Montreal-based Blue Note Mining. He replaces John Martin, former president and COO, who is retiring after a 41-year career in the mining industry. Dubois is an expert in narrow gold vein mining.

Toronto's Champion Minerals has named Jean-Luc Chouinard its new director of projects. He holds a MSc degree in mining engineering from Laval University Quebec.

Continental Nickel of Toronto has a new president and CEO, David Massola. His 30+ years of experience stretches from Canada, to Chile, to the United States. He was part of the team that developed and operated the Escondida mine in Chile and the Ekati diamond mine in the Northwest Territories. His appointment is effective June 27, 2011.

Chantal Lavoie, formerly of De Beers Canada and Barrick Gold, is the incoming president and CEO of Crocodile Gold of Toronto. At De Beers he was responsible for the Snap Lake and Victor mines, the Gahcho Kué project and was acting CEO of De Beers. Lavoie will be introduced via conference call (416-340-2216) at 10 am on Tuesday, May 24, 2011.

Timothy G. Smith has joined Vancouver-based Fire River Gold as VP operations. He is a graduate of McGill University and former operating manager at the Red Dog mine.

Polar Star Mining of Toronto has appointed Martin L. Gallon to the position of COO. He is a corporate development and operational executive with over 40 years of experience. He will head the team bringing the Chépica copper-gold mine back into production in Chile.

The new VP operations and social responsibility at Vancouver's South American Silver is James Mallory. He is former VP of Silver Standard Resources and before that held management positions with Barrick Gold and NovaGold.

Dr. Scott Jobin-Bevans has accepted the duties of chainman at Tiex Inc. of Kelowna, BC. He is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and the University of Western Ontario as well as the president of the PDAC.
