Past chief of the Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nation, Victor Fern, has been elected to the board of Vancouver's CANALASKA URANIUM. He is a life-long resident of Fond du Lac, Sask., and he still hunts and fishes for food in the area. Since 1984, Fern has worked at uranium mines in northern Saskatchewan. He is currently involved at the mill operations at a nearby mine. He has also been involved in numerous boards and committees related to mining at the mine site. He is also involved in environmental monitoring in the northern Athabasca area and with various private business interests in the Fond du Lac - Black Lake area.

Toronto-based GBS GOLD has named Peter Breese as president and CEO, effective Aug. 1, 2008. He currently serves as CEO of Norilsk Nickel's international business, following that company's takeover of LionOre Mining in 2007.

HARTE GOLD CORP. of Toronto announced that by resolution of its board of directors, Robert Platte has been removed as president and CEO of the company. Robert Isles has been named president and CEO effective immediately. Harte also said Paul Ankcorn is the new CFO, replacing Milton Klyman who resigned.

Chris Stewart is taking up the duties of VP operations at Toronto's LAKE SHORE GOLD. He holds a BSc in mining from Queen's University in Kingston, Ont., and has held several managerial positions with Canadian mining services companies.

LAKOTA RESOURCES of Toronto announced that Ian F.T. Kennedy has named president following the resignation of George H. Breuler from that position and as chairman.

Dr. James W. Gill, who founded Aur Resources, has joined the board of directors at Toronto-based LINEAR METALS.

John Willson has retired from the board of Vancouver-based PAN AMERICAN SILVER. David Press, a mining engineer with over 38 years of experience, will fill the vacancy.

ROMARCO MINERALS of Vancouver has named Ken Brunk its senior VP and COO. He was recently president and CEO of Harrison Western Group and before that spent many years with Newmont Mining.

Steve Harapiak is the new president at COO at VICTORY NICKEL of Toronto. He is an industry veteran with years of international experience and has been president and CEO of Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan. Former president Brian Robertson has resigned.
