Steve Lang has joined Toronto-based CENTERRA GOLD as VP and COO. He comes to the post from a similar role at Stillwater Mining. Before that, Lang was manager of Barrick's Goldstsrike-Meikle operation, VP of engineering for Rio Algom in Chile, manager of the Fort Knox mine in Alaska, and held various positions at Santa Fe Pacific Gold.

RED BACK MINING of Vancouver has named Kevin Ross its new COO. He has a BSc in mining engineering from the Royal School of Mines and a MBA from Cranfield. He has worked in Africa, Europe and North America.

The new president and CEO of Vancouver-based RIMFIRE MINERALS is Jason Weber. He replaces David Caulfield who becomes chairman. Weber was recently Rimfire's manager of corporate communications.

SKYGOLD VENTURES of Vancouver has asked Brian Groves to become its president, CEO and a director, starting Jan. 7, 2008. The current president, Doug Fulcher, will remain on the Skygold board.

Todd Newton has been appointed president and CEO of Calgary-based SYNENCO ENERGY. Synenco has a 40% interest in the Northern Lights oil sands project.
