Jim Gowans, president and CEO of De Beers Canada, is the new president-elect at the CANADIAN INSTITUTE OF MINING, METALLURGY AND PETROLEUM. He joins incoming president Jim Popowich of Elk Valley Coal.

APOGEE MINERALS of Toronto has appointed David Gower as CEO, Helio Denis as president, and Flail Lambert VP operations. Former president John Carlson will remain on the company board.

The services of Fergus Kerr have been retained as advisor to Torontos PELE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES. He is a former Denison manager of uranium properties in Elliot Lake, Ont., where Pele Mountain hopes to develop another uranium producer.

Saskatoons WESCAN GOLDFIELDS has named David Power-Fardy its manager of exploration.
