Following a 35-year career with Anglo American and De Beers, including Toronto-based DE BEERS CANADA, Richard Molyneux will retire at the end of April 2006. Jim Gowans, recently senior VP and COO at PT Inco, will step into his shoes as president & CEO of De Beers Canada. Gowans joins the company later this month.

Calgary-based SYNENCO, which holds a 60% interest in the Northern Lights oil sands development, has announced the hiring of two new vice-presidents. Patricia McCunn-Miller becomes VP of corporate responsibility including regulatory applications, stakeholder consultation, environmental management, and health and safety. Kent Hicks becomes VP of downstream operations and he will be responsible for development and operation of the company's upgrader complex.

GREAT WESTERN DIAMONDS of Saskatoon has named Brent C. Jellico its new president and CEO. His expertise lies in his practical knowledge of diamond exploration in the Fort a la Corne area of Saskatchewan.

Jeffrey Gerard, currently manager of business strategy at Xstrata Coal, has joined the board of Halifax-based ERDENE GOLD.

GOLDBROOK VENTURES of Vancouver has appointed David Cass as VP corporate development. Previously he headed Anglo American's exploration program in the Americas. He holds a BSc (honours) in geology and an MSc in mineral exploration and mining geology.
