Detour Gold of Toronto has added three people to its development team at the Detour Lake project in northern Ontario. Paul Chawrun, who has many years experience in oil sands and coal mines, has become director of technical services. Denis Caron, a former manager of the Selbaie mine, is the new manager of mining. Patrick Rummel is the manager of environment and will oversee the environmental impact assessment study and permitting process. Consultants Robert Crepeau, Peter Kresin and Stuart McTavish will assist with the feasibility study.

Shareholders of Toronto-based Harte Gold have voted in a new board of directors, namely Stephen Roman, Michael Shunock, John Gable, Douglas Scharf and George Flach. The new board then made executive appointments: Stephen Roman as president, Rein Lehari as CFO, George Flach as VP exploration, and Neil Steenberg as corporate secretary.

Landdrill International of Moncton, N.B., has named John Martin and Frank Smeenk to its board. Martin is the COO of Blue Note Mining and Smeenk is a founder of Fletcher Nickel.

Warren Bates has been promoted to senior VP exploration at Toronto-based Pelangio Exploration. He was formerly VP exploration (Africa), and that spot is now filled by Christ Pegg. Lastly, Brendan Cahill has been named counsel and corporate secretary.

Vancouver's Rainy River Resources has made two important executive appointments. Stuart A. Averill, owner of Overburden Drilling Management, has been named VP exploration, and Gerald J. Shields, a lawyer, is the new VP administration.
