Toronto-headquartered Explorator Resources has named David Prins president and CEO. He and Amjad J. Ali joined Richard Colterjohn, David O'Connor and Walter Segsworth on the board of directors.

Leonard Therrien is now the mine superintendent at the Nixon Fork gold mine that belongs to Fire River Gold of Vancouver. He is a veteran of the Hemlo camp in northern Ontario, having worked at both the David Bell and Williams gold mines. He holds a bachelor's degree from the South Dakota School of Mines and a diploma from the Haileybury School of Mines and Technology.

GFM Resources of Vancouver has named Erik C. Jurgensen its new chairman and CEO. Roman Friedrich III, who formerly held those positions, will remain on the board.

Vancouver-based Goldcorp has announced several important additions to its senior management team. David Deisley, previously VP and general counsel, has been appointed executive VP corporate affairs and general counsel. Timo Jauristo, previously VP corporate development, has been appointed executive VP corporate development. The following promotions were also announced: George Burns to senior VP Canada and US operations; Barry Olson to senior VP project development; Charlie Ronkos to senior VP exploration; Gerry Atkinson to senior VP human resources; Colette Rustad to senior VP and controller; Mark Ruus to senior VP tax; and Cheryl Sedestrom, to senior VP metals marketing.

Vancouver's Quest Capital (to be rebranded as Sprott Resource Lending Corp.) has handed over the duties of president and CEO to Peter Grosskopf. Grosskopf also assumes the duties of CEO at Sprott Inc. He replaces Brian Bayley at Quest and Eric Sprott at Sprott. in 1981 Sprott founded Sprott Securities, a company now known as Cormack Securities, where Grosskopf held the top spot until his recent appointments.

Tirex Resources of Vancouver has named Fred Sveinson to its board of directors. He founded what has become San Gold, which has gold mining interests in northern Manitoba. Sveinson is also president and CEO of Merit Mining Corp. Bill Weymark has resigned from his position as a director of Tirex.
