Vancouver-based FREEGOLD VENTURES has named Michael P. Gross the company's new VP exploration. He has held several senior exploration positions and served as manager at four precious metals producers.

GARTNER LEE, the environmental science, economics planning and engineering firm with offices throughout Canada, has acquired C. WREN & ASSOCIATES (CWA) of Guelph, Ont. Dr. Christopher Wren, who joins Gartner Lee, has 25 years' experience in ecological risk assessment and environmental monitoring services.

University of Alberta Oil Sands Professor Dave Sego has been named executive VP of technology at WENTWORTH ENERGY's subsidiary, WENTWORTH OIL SANDS of Fort Worth, Texas. Sego will head the research team attempting to commercialize the Petromax hydrocarbon separation technology.

The new COO at Saskatoon's SHORE GOLD is Harvey J. Bay, who will continue in his role as CFO at Shore. Also, Pieter du Plessis has been promoted to VP exploration from project leader at the company's Star kimberlite venture.

FORTUNE MINERALS of London, Ont., has expanded its management team with the appointment of Todd Burlingame as VP environment and permitting. He recently served as chairman and CEO of the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board. Charles Sobey, an underground superintendent at the Golden Giant mine until its closure, joins Fortune as project manager for the NICO underground bulk sampling program.
