Walter W. Brown has been appointed to the position of chairman and CEO of PHILEX MINING and chairman, president and CEO of PHILEX GOLD.

SULLIDEN EXPLORATION of Montreal has named Vernon Arseneau to the position of general manager of exploration. He previously worked for Noranda, and will be based in Sulliden's Lima, Peru, office.

Doris Meyer is the new president and CEO of Vancouver-based KALIMANTAN GOLD CORP. Former CEO Rahman Connelly is now the executive chairman and remains on the company board.

BARRICK GOLD of Toronto has promoted Jamie Sokalsky to executive VP and CFO. He had been senior VP and CFO of the company since 1999 after joining as treasurer in 1993.<br>

Michael Legg has been appointed executive VP of Vancouver-based MINCO MINING AND METALS. He has over 35 years' experience in the mineral industry including geology degrees from King's College, London and mineral production management from the Royal School of Mines.

GOLDCORP of Toronto is shuffling its management team. Bruce Humphrey, senior VP and COO, is resigning at the end of May. He responsibilities will be assumed by newly-appointed VP of projects Mike Hoffman, Red Lake mine manager Claude Lemasson, and VP of western operations John Begeman. Goldcorp said these changes have been made to reflect the growing responsibilities and capabilities of these gentlemen in the company's future growth.

Clifford Frame, chairman, CEO and founder of ONTZINC CORP., retired on April 21. Peter George has been appointed acting president and is also senior VP of exploration and new projects. Greg Peebles, secretary and a director, has been named acting chairman. OntZinc subsidiary SCOZINC has named Patrick Hannon its president.

Vancouver-based QUADRA MINING has selected Derek White as its new CFO. He holds an undergraduate degree in geological engineering and is a chartered accountant. Charles (Chuck) Geary has been employed as general manager of the company's Robinson mine in Nevada, which is expected to reopen later this year.
