MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Galahad Metals, Ontario Graphite, Osisko, PC Gold and Unigold

Ottawa-based Galahad Metals has named a new president, Michael J. Zamora. He brings extensive knowledge of the securities industry, geology, geophysics, hydrometallurgy and process chemistry to the job.

Ottawa-based Galahad Metals has named a new president, Michael J. Zamora. He brings extensive knowledge of the securities industry, geology, geophysics, hydrometallurgy and process chemistry to the job.

Ontario native Jerry Janik is bringing over 20-years of mining experience to his new role as general manager of the Kearny graphite mine owned by Ontario Graphite of Kearney, ON. Janik is originally from Kingsville, ON, and holds dual diplomas in geology and mineral processing from Sir Sandford Fleming College School of Natural Resources.

Osisko Mining Corp. of Montreal has named Richard Ross to its board of directors. He is the former CEO and chairman of Inmet Mining. Ross also sits on the boards of Cliffs Natural Resources and St. Joseph's Health Centre.

The new COO of Ottawa's PC Gold is Peter J. Hooper. He graduated from South Africa's Witwatersrand University and has worked around the world. Hooper takes over responsibility for the underground exploration program at the Pickle Crow property.

Andrew Cheatle will shortly be joining Toronto-based Unigold as its new CEO. He has held senior positions with Anglo American and JCI, as well as being chief geologist at Goldcorp. Cheatle holds a MBA from Capella University and a BSc (Hons) in geology from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, University of London. He is also a councillor and member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.
