HudBay Minerals of Toronto has announced the retirement of Peter R. Jones, effective Dec. 31, 2009, from the duties of CEO. Warren Holmes will assume the role of acting CEO on Jan. 1, 2010, and has taken up the duties of vice-chairman immediately. President and COO Michael D. Winship has resigned to pursue other opportunities.

 

The interim president of Inca Pacific Resources of Vancouver will be Michael Winn. He replaces Jim Rothwell who is stepping down for personal reasons.

 

New Nadina Explorations of Greenwood, BC, has named John W. Jewitt to its board of directors. Long-time industry watchers will recall him as the president of Granby Mining and Granisle Copper. The company hopes to advance the past-producing Silver Queen property near Houston, BC.

 

Vancouver-based Western Coal has named Keith Calder its new president, CEO and a director. He replaces John Hogg who will retire on Nov. 30, 2009. Calder has most recently been managing director of Rio Tinto's global copper projects from an office in Vancouver.
