LUNDIN MINING CORP. of Vancouver has appointed Lars-Gunnar Huldt as finance manager of the Canadian company and CFO of its wholly-owned Swedish subsidiary, Lundin Mining AB. Huldt holds an MBA from the University of Linkoping, Sweden.

Peter Walker has rejoined Toronto-based TSODILO RESOURCES as VP exploration. He held the same position with the company from 1995 to 2001. After that date Walker was exploration manager for Trans Hex Group, a consulting geologist, and chairman of Tsodilo's subsidiary in Botswana.

Vancouver-based QUADRA MINING has beefed up its senior management with three notable appointments. Guy Le Bel becomes manager of business development and will focus on merger and acquisition opportunities. Brian P. Fowler, formerly of Placer Dome, becomes manager of exploration. Sophie Taylor becomes manager of investor relations.

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC has named David Fraser to the position of VP sales and channel management for Canada.

Paulo Sachs is the new VP and managing director of GEMCOM SOFTWARE's Latin America regional business unit. He has over 20 years' business management, sales and marketing experience in mining and applied information technology.

Rob McEwan, chairman and CEO of GOLDCORP, has asked the board to conduct a search for an individual to succeed him as CEO. He plans to step down as soon as a suitable replacement can be hired. McEwan will remain chairman in order to ensure an orderly transition.

The president and CEO of GOLDEN GOOSE RESOURCES, Irwin Miller, is taking a leave of absence due to health concerns. John R. Macklem, VP finance and director will assume the role of acting president during Miller's absence.

INTREPID MINERALS CORP. of Toronto has named Elizabeth Kirkwood the new chair of the company. She has been a director of Intrepid since 1999 and is also president and CEO of First Nickel.

It is the end of the line for bankrupt McWATTERS MINING. The last of its board of directors has resigned effective Aug. 31, 2004.

Montreal-based SEMAFO has named Patrick Moryoussef its mining operations manager. He will be responsible for the Kiniero and Samira Hill gold mines in Guinea and Niger, respectively. He officially joins the company on Sept. 13, bringing experience at several Canadian gold and base metal mines to the job. Moryoussef is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal.
