Giles Filion is the newest director to join the board of METALCORP of Thunder Bay, Ont. Until recently he was VP of exploration at Goldcorp. He was also earlier in his career an exploration manager for Lac Minerals, chief geologist at the Doyon mine and mine geologist at the Sigma gold mine.
Toronto's FNX MINING has appointed a new senior VP and COO, Anthony P. Makuch. Recently he was VP operations for the Sudbury Joint Venture of FNX and Dynatec. He will assume the management of all mining operations formerly included in the venture.
Calgary-based BIRCH MOUNTAIN RESOURCES has named Derrick Kershaw as senior VP. Retired from Syncrude in 2003, he also serves on Birch Mountain's board.
