The NWT & NUNAVUT CHAMBER OF MINES has named its new board of directors for 2003-04. They are president John McConnell (De Beers Canada Mining); VP for Northwest Territories Todd McKinlay, (De Beers Canada Exploration); VP for Nunavut Michael Hine (consultant); treasurer Gord Clark (Diavik Diamonds); and secretary Rod Brown (Discovery Mining Services). The board includes Wayne Isaacs (BHP Billiton diamonds), Eira Thomas (Stornoway Diamonds), John Stard (Miramar Con), Hugh Wilson (Miramar Mining), Trevor Teed (Whitebeach Point Exploration), Wilfred Wilcox (Kitnuna Corp.), Tom Hoefer (Diavik Diamond Mines), Mike Redfern (North American Tungsten), Pamela Strand (Shear Minerals), Robin Goad (Fortune Minerals), Randy Turner (Diamondex Resources), Greg Missal (Tahera Corp.), John Robins (Committee Bay Resources), David Webb (Tyhee Resources), Chris Hrkac (GGL Diamonds), Ewan Downie (Wolfden Resources), and Dean Besserer (Apex Geoscience). The Chamber held its annual meeting on Nov. 20 in Yellowknife.

Partners Japan Group and Imperial Metals have revamped management of HUCKLEBERRY MINES, naming Jim O'Rourke as president and director. Huckleberry Mines is taking over as operator of the copper producer near Houston, B.C., a move which will allow Imperial to concentrate on its 100%-owned Mount Polley copper-gold project near Williams Lake, B.C.

DYNATEC CORP. of Richmond Hill, Ont. has a new executive VP and COO, John W. Lill. He will oversee the Ambatovy nickel project in Madagascar, the Sudbury Joint Venture with FNX Mining, and the coal-bed methane projects in West Virginia. His career includes stints with Barrick Gold, Rio Algom, and most recently BHP Billiton as COO of base metals.

Toronto-based ZARUMA RESOURCES has named Dr. Richard Viljoen VP of exploration. He has more than 30 years' experience in exploration and economic geology since his graduation from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is also the recipient of the Londgren award from the Society of Economic Geologists of the United States and the Draper medal from the Geological Society of South Africa.

DUMONT NICKEL of Toronto has made the following appointments to its projects in Utah: W. (Bill) C. Kerr as VP operations, Richard W. Bybee as exploration manager, and Thomas R. Gibson as technical advisor, special projects.

Rene P. Soder is now VP, corporate affairs at Toronto-based UNIGOLD INC.

Hamilton, Ont.'s STELCO INC. has named Courtney Pratt president and CEO effective Jan. 1, 2004. He has held executive positions most recently with Toronto Hydro and before that with Noranda. Interim president and CEO Frederick H. Telmer will step down on Dec. 31.

CALEDONIA MINING of Toronto has appointed Jacques du Plessis as general manager of its South African operations, particularly the Barbrook and Eersteling gold mines.
