Since acquiring an 81% interest in PIONEER METALS of Vancouver, BARRICK GOLD of Toronto has shuffled Pioneer's board of directors. Three of the four members have resigned to be replaced by Barrick's nominees. Stephen Sorensen will remain as president, CEO and a director until Barrick completes its acquisition of all outstanding Pioneer shares.

David G. Wahl has joined Toronto-based LATIN AMERICAN MINERALS as its CEO and president. Over his 35-year career, he has worked extensively in Latin America and Canada. Alberto Orcoyen, a director, has been named chairman of the board.

PITCHSTONE EXPLORATION of Vancouver has promoted Steve Blower to VP exploration.

Brian Northgrave has been appointed chairman of WESTERN QUEBEC MINES in Toronto following the resignation of Andre Valiquette. Paul Santin has joined the board of directors.

Vancouver's MUNDORO MINING reports that Colin McAleenan has resigned as a director, CEO and chairman of the company. Robert van Doorn, the president, has taken up the duties of CEO. The search for a new chairman is underway.

GLENCAIRN GOLD of Toronto has named Graham Speirs its new COO, effective Oct. 1, 2006. He will reside in Managua, Nicaragua, and oversee the optimization and expansion of the company's three mines.

The new VP operations at Toronto's NORTH AMERICAN PALLADIUM will be David Passfield, effective Oct. 1, 2006. His experience includes management of the Diavik diamond mine and consulting on production and maintenance planning, equipment selection and throughput optimization. He is a graduate of Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
