STORNOWAY DIAMOND has named Anthony (Tony) Walsh and Jeff Stibbard to its board of directors. Stibbard is a consulting mining engineer involved in the successful development and operation of the Ekati diamond mine and the Muskeg River oil sands mine. He graduated from the Montana School of Mines. Walsh is a senior officer and director of Miramar Mining, and he will chair Stornoway's audit committee.

David Fraser is the new VP, sales and channel management Canada for SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC CANADA. He was selected for his leadership, strategic direction and marketing skills.

GEMCOM SOFTWARE INTERNATIONAL has named Paulo Sachs to the position of VP and managing director of its Latin American business unit. He holds a B.Sc. in mining engineering from the University of Sao Paulo, an MBA from Fundacao Getulio Vargas, a specialisation in marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and is currently completing a post-graduate program with the mining and petroleum engineering department of the University of Sao Paulo.

Irwin Miller, president and CEO of GOLDEN GOOSE RESOURCES, has been granted a leave of absence due to health concerns. John R. Macklem, VP finance and long-time director will become acting president during his absence.

Marking the end of troubled McWATTERS MINING, all directors and officers have tendered letters of resignation effective Aug. 31, 2004.
