Chairman Norman B. Keevil and the board of TECK COMINCO are pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Thompson to the board. He is the chairman and past-CEO of Gold Fields Ltd., one of the world's leading precious metals producers.

LAKE SHORE GOLD of Vancouver has named Dr. Michael J. Byron as its new VP of exploration. He holds the same position at Aurora Platinum, which owns 58.5% of Lake Shore Gold.

Kevin MacNeill has been appointed managing director for ETRUSCAN DIAMONDS, which operates the Tirisano diamond mine in South Africa. MacNeill's responsibilities will expand to include planned expansion at the mine.

YAMANA RESOURCES of Spokane, Wash., is moving its executive offices to Toronto, and will arrive with a new management team. Peter Marrone will be president and CEO; Antenor Silva will be COO. The team will also include Melvin Klohn as VP exploration, Seiiti Nakamura as construction manager and Evandro Cintra as exploration manager. Yamana is pursuing the acquisition of producing gold mines in Brazil.

In Vancouver, PACIFIC MINERALS has shuffled its management. The new team includes Daniel Kunz (president), Mike Page (exploration), Robert Brozdowski (exploration), Jay Chmelauskas (study management), Hu Long (metallurgy), and Willem Fuchter (geologist).

Edward J. Badida, with over 35 years of financial management experience, has been appointed CFO of GUYANA GOLDFIELDS. The company is awaiting the final mining licence for its Peters project in Guyana.

Two new inside sales reps, Tom Gratton and Steven Lafleche, have joined TRANS CANADA WIRE & CABLE in Cornwall, Ont. They will provide service for customers in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and parts of Ontario.

TIBERON MINERALS has elected Clifford Davis to its board. His 39-year career includes both operating executive experience and institutional equity financing.

Jean-Charles Potvin, the president, CEO and founder of Tiomin Resources, has become a director of AZIMUT EXPLORATION. He replaces Jacquelin Gauthier, who will become an advisor to the company. Other members of the board are Jacques Bonneau (chairman), Andr Gaumond and Jean-Marc Lulin.
