WESTERN OIL SANDS of Calgary has appointed a new president and CEO, James C. Houck. Recently he was a principal of a US-based private energy merchant banking firm. Prior to that he spent most of his career with ChevronTexaco and its predecessor Texaco.
Toronto-based CONTACT DIAMOND CORP. has added five new members to its board of directors. They are retired hockey star and Canadian senator Frank Mahovlich; Michael A. Ballantyne (VP of Aber Diamond); professional geologist Peter C. Hubacheck; finance and tax consultant John G. Jakolev; and accountant Charles J. Lilly.
BARRICK GOLD of Toronto has recently named Alex Davidson executive VP of exploration and corporate development. He joined the company in 1993. Previously Davidson was VP of exploration, a post which has been filled by Rob Kromarov.
