MINING PEOPLE: Japan Gold, Stelmine, and Teck



Japan Gold Corp. of Vancouver has named Takashi Kuriyama its new general manager of exploration. He was most recently manager of global exploration at Sumitomo. He also served as a director of Teck Resources from 2006 to 2016.

Quebec City-based Stelmine Canada has appointed Carole Gilbert to its board of directors. She practices corporate and commercial law, especially mergers and acquisitions. She is also a professional geologist.

Teck Resources, with headquarters in Vancouver, has appointed two new vice-presidents: Ian Anderson for logistics and Andre Stark as marketing of coal and base metals. A graduate of the University of British Columbia, Anderson joined the company in 2003 and was most recently the general manager of coal logistics. Stark joined Teck in 2012. He holds a diploma in industrial engineering from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, a BCom in accounting and information systems from the University of South Africa, and a MBA in finance from Stellenbosch University.
