MINING PEOPLE: Jaxon Mining, Orla Mining and Prize Mining

Vancouver-based Jaxon Mining has named John King Burns as CEO. He previously served as the lead director and chairman of the company’s board. He will retain his role as chairman. Former president and CEO Jason Cubitt has resigned. Effective Nov. 12, 2018, Jason Simpson will be the new president and CEO of Orla Mining in Vancouver. He was previously COO of Torex Gold and before that in charge of Vale’s operation in Newfoundland. Current president and CEO Marc Prefontaine will give up his directorship but remain with the company until the end of this year. Calgary’s Prize Mining Corp. has hired Richard Dufresne to fill the role of exploration manager. He has a degree in geology from the University of Montreal and over 30 years’ experience. Prize is currently testing the Kena and Toughnut properties in British Columbia and the Manto Negro project in Mexico.
