MINING PEOPLE: Silver Standard and Wildcat Exploration

Silver Standard Resources of Vancouver will name Paul Benson its president and CEO on July 31 when John Smith retires from those responsibilities. A veteran of BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto, Benson was most recently CEO of Troy Resources.

Winnipeg-based Wildcat Exploration has three new members on its board. Stephen Masson, president and CEO of Copper Reef Mining, was named Wildcat president and CEO. Harry Barr, a 30-year veteran of the industry, joined the board, as did James Pickell, a recipient of the PDAC Bill Dennis Prospector of the Year Award (2000). Further, Wildcat has relocated its offices to Flin Flon, MB – Box 306, 12 Mitchell Rd., R8A 1N1.
