MINING RESEARCH – Gemcom supports centre in Brazil

VANCOUVER - GEMCOM SOFTWARE INTERNATIONAL, the largest global supplier of specialized mining productivity solutions, and the Laboratory of Mine Planning Technology (LAPOL), from the Department of Mining and Petroleum Engineering of University of Sao Paulo (USP), have signed a technical co-operation agreement, to establish LAPOL as a Centre of Mining Research Excellence of Gemcom technology in Brazil.

As fundamental technology building blocks, Gemcom is providing LAPOL with multi-user licences of its mining productivity solutions, including GEMS SQL, Surpac and MineSched. These solutions will be used for training and education of both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as software tools to support research projects focused in the development and integration of specific components of Mine Production Management Solutions (MPMS). Examples of current research efforts underway include reserves reconciliation, mine-oriented short term mine planning linked with fleet management, as well as virtual mine immersive applications, all of which will be supported by Gemcoms technology and international expertise.
