“I was quite amused by David Waugh’s comment about the Sydney Tar Ponds,” wrote Cape Bretoner Dan McMullin. He noted that so far “not one ounce of tar ponds sludge has been cleaned, yet millions have already been spent on consultants and a bloated government department called the Sydney Tar Ponds Agency.

“Let’s hope Alberta does not follow Nova Scotia’s lead here. Put the money where the science and expertise is, not where the bungling bureaucrats can squander it,” he advised.
