NET NITS De Beers Debate

Not everyone believes De Beers is worthy of the apology offered by Premier Stephen Kakfwi of the Northwest Territories (see last week's "Doing Some Digging"). Fred Davies of Yellowknife, NWT, writes:

"De Beers has never to my knowledge ever apologized for their behaviour in Africa or to employees for the lousy wages. If it was up to me I would not allow them to mine at all in the NWT. They are a slimy outfit and have no qualms at all about what they do to properties or peoples. Premier Kakfwi was right to label them as the crooks that they are."
