BOLIVIA - COEUR D'ALENE MINES, with offices in the Idaho city of the same name, has begun commissioning its San Bartolome silver mine in Potosi. At 9.0 million oz annually, this will be the world's largest purely silver mine. Meanwhile, the budget for the remainder of 2008 is 6.0 million oz.

The project will recover silver from the Pallaco and Sucu deposits at the base of the Cerro Rico Mountain. Reserves total 153.0 million oz of silver.
