QUEBEC - The fuel storage and personnel accommodations were completed at the Nunavik nickel project in the Ungava region Goldbrook Ventures of Vancouver has reported. Infrastructure development advanced including initial work on the road network, granular fill pads and the beginning of construction of the Bombardier Lake dam.

In December SNC Lavalin turned over the life-of-mine plan for the Allammaq deposit and updated capital and operating cost data, thus completing its contribution to the project. Jien Canada, Goldbrook's partner in the project, has assumed engineering, procurement and construction management. The list of major contract holders at the project is lengthy: BPR-Bechtel, Genivar, G Mining Services, Golder Associates and Kiewit Nuvumiut (roadwork and earthworks).

Pouring of concrete foundations and structural steel erection for the concentrator facility was deferred until early 2011 pending receipt of revised engineering specifications reflecting new efficiencies and an upgrade to 4,500 t/d capacity from the originally permitted 3,500 t/d.
