VANCOUVER NOVAGOLD RESOURCES announced with great sadness that Cole McFarland, a long-time director of the company, has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He served on the board since 2001.
McFarland had over 40 years of experience in mine development in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Russia, the Philippines and Alaska. He was president and CEO of Placer Dome U.S. until his retirement from the company in 1995. In that capacity, he was responsible for the development of several mines, including the world-class Pipeline-Cortez mining complex, one of Placer Dome’s flagship mines.
