ALBERTA - FORT HILLS OIL SANDS, the operator of the Fort Hills oil sands development near Fort McMurray, has awarded the front-end engineering design (FEED) services contract for the ore preparation plant silo to HATCH ENERGY of Calgary. The Hatch team members have been assembled from Canada, Chile and Australia based on their bulk materials handling experience.
Work on the preparation plant is already underway and will be completed in 2011. The Fort Hills project is a joint venture of TECK COMINCO (15%), PETRO-CANADA (55%) and UTS ENERGY (30%).
