FORT McMURRAY, Alberta Production was reduced at SUNCOR ENERGY's oil sands facility by a minor fire on Sunday, July 13. No personnel were injured, but one of the two oil sands upgraders was damaged.
The fire occurred when bitumen ignited while being removed from a coker drum. Estimates of the cost to repair the damage were under $1 million. Full production resumed on Sunday, July 19.
