VANCOUVER FINNING INTERNATIONAL has solidified its foothold in Latin America with three new multi-million-dollar contracts in the last two weeks.
First, Finning's Chilean operations secured the sale of 28 pieces of Caterpillar and Ingersoll-Rand equipment worth $41.3 million to Compania Minera Maricunga, a joint venture of KINROSS GOLD and BEMA GOLD. A $70.7-million, five-year maintenance contract was also awarded, and it may be extended to 10 years.
Minera Escondida, part of the BHP BILLITON GROUP, has ordered another six Cat 797B haulage trucks to expand its fleet. The deal is worth $25 million.
Finning also announced a $27-million equipment and maintenance contract with the Collahuasi mine, which is a owned by FALCONBRIDGE, ANGLO AMERICAN and a group of Japanese firms. The deal includes seven Cat dozers, and two graders worth $10 million. The five-year maintenance contract worth $17 million completes the deal.
