TORONTO - Rob McEwen, chairman and CEO of US GOLD and LEXAM EXPLORATIONS has been appointed a member of the Order of Canada, this countrys highest civilian honour. He is one of 71 new appointments announced by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michalle Jean, Governor General of Canada.
McEwen is the founder and former chairman and CEO of Goldcorp, a company which he grew from a $50 million market capitalization in 1992 to over $8 billion market by 2005. During that period the shares of Goldcorp achieved an annual compounded growth rate of over 31%. He is also the benefactor of the McEwen Centre of Regenerative Medicine at the Toronto General Hospital where he has invested over $20 million to advance medical research into commercial applications.
