ONTARIO - Toronto-based North American Palladium (NAP) says that the updated mineral resource estimate for the Offset zone at its Lac des Iles palladium mine includes measured and indicated resources of 14.5 million tonnes (5.31 g/t Pd), an increase of 68%. The amount of contained metal has also increased to 2.5 million oz, a 41% rise. The inferred resource is 3.1 million tonnes (4.80 g/t Pd) containing 500,000 oz of palladium.
NAP said that the increased resource figures may allow it to significantly extend the mine life. The property also has potential for the delineation of future resources as the Offset zone is open at depth and along strike. As well the Roby zone extensions will be evaluated this year, and additional drilling will be done on the newly discovered Cowboy, Outlaw and Sheriff zones.
Total measured and indicated resources - including the Offset zone, open pit and stockpile - total 37.8 million tonnes at 3.39 g/t Pd.
