Dr. Chris Doran has joined MINE RADIO SYSTEMS as engineering manager, and Bob Lavergne is the new sales manager. Both men were former employees of El-Equip, which has gone bankrupt. Mine Radio Systems purchased the assets of El-Equip from a bankruptcy trustee.

P&H MINING EQUIPMENT has named Mark Readinger its new president and COO.

The boards of BHP BILLITON LTD and BHP BILLITON PLC have appointed Charles (Chip) Goodyear to the position of chief executive. He replaces Brian Gilbertson who resigned.

LAKOTA RESOURCES has named Klaus Eckhof as president and director of the company. George H. Brunner will stay on as a director.

X-Cal Resources is building its exploration team for the Sleeper gold property. The additions are: Keith Blair (formerly of Placer Dome and a 3-D model expert); Terry White (geophysicist); Larry Kornze (formerly of Barrick Gold); Ken Snyder (known for the Ken Snyder Midas mine); Win Rowe (special consultant to the company); and Larry Martin (structural geologist).

Walter Segsworth has joined the board at GREAT BASIN GOLD. He was president and COO of Homestake Mining until it merged with Barrick Gold. Before that he headed Westmin Resources. Segsworth is a past director and chairman of the mining associations of Canada and British Columbia. He was named BC Mining Industry Person of the Year in 1996.

APEX SILVER has appointed Igor Levental to the newly-created position of VP, investor relations and corporate development. He formerly held a similar position with Homestake.

MCKENZIE BAY RESOURCES has named Jan Mracek, PhD (Metallurgy), as its director of production and technical processes. He will develop new vanadium products and improved recovery methods.

There is a new president at LAKE SHORE GOLD; he is Daniel G. Innes. He is also president and director of Aurora Platinum and VP exploration of Southwestern Resources. He brings over 30 years experience to his new post.

David Constable has been appointed to the board of SOUTHERN STAR RESOURCES, which recently began trading on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol "SSR".

ROMARCO MINERALS has named Ralf Langner, CGA, its VP finance. He was most recently the financial analyst at Bema Gold.

Frank Rudge has been named the new VP and managing director of CATTRON-THEIMEG. He will direct domestic and international material and mining activities. Cattron-Theimeg recently separated its Material Handling and Mining Group and its Railroad Group due to the company's expansion in recent years.
