THUNDER BAY, Ont. NORTH AMERICAN PALLADIUM, Canada's only primary producer of platinum group metals, has ordered a new US$3-million Metso Superior Mark II primary gyratory crusher. The new unit is needed at the Lac des Iles operation to meet the mill throughput target of 15,000 tonnes/day.
The new crusher should be on-line by the middle of this year. In the meantime, mill feed is being treated in the existing crusher and by contract crushing. A damaged outer eccentric bushing on the old crusher put it out of commission, and it underwent repairs late last year.
