ONTARIO – The Musselwhite gold mine belonging to Vancouver-based Goldcorp 430 km north of Thunder Bay has been recertified  under the International Cyanide Management Code. The mine was originally certified in 2010 and has been recertified within the three-year time limit.

The Cyanide Code is a voluntary industry program for companies involved in the production of gold using cyanide and companies producing and transporting this cyanide. It was developed under the aegis of the United Nations Environment Programme. The Code is intended to complement an operation's existing obligation to comply with the applicable laws and regulations of the political jurisdictions in which the operation is located.

Musselwhite was again audited by independent professional third-party auditors. The report found that the mine maintained full compliance with the Code's Principles and Standards of Practice throughout the previous three years.

The new summary audit report and auditor credentials form are available on Goldcorp’s signatory companies page of the ICMI web site by clicking here.
