Vancouver-based GEOSCIENCE BC has awarded ten scholarships for $5,000 to MSc and PhD students across Canada, and in Australia, who are working on a mineral or oil and gas exploration-related topic in British Columbia. Successful applicants include: Adam Bath, PhD student, University of Tasmania; Scott Blevings, MSc student, UBC; Katrin Breitsprecher, PhD student, UBC; Jacqueline Dohaney, MSc student, UBC; Karin Fecova, MSc student, Simon Fraser University; Jean-Francois Gagnon, PhD student, University of Alberta; David Gardner, MSc student, University of Victoria; Janina Micko, PhD student, UBC; Heidi Pass, PhD student, University of Tasmania, and Tyler Ruks, PhD student, UBC.

Applicants were scored based on their education and work experience, their thesis project, their career goals and aspirations, as well as the remarks from their references. They were reviewed by a panel of geoscientists, from industry and academia. Preference was given to applicants whose projects were deemed to have the greatest potential benefit to exploration in B.C. and whose research and career interests are primarily directed towards the exploration sector, either mineral or oil and gas.
