VANCOUVER - Bradford Cooke, chairman and CEO of Vancouver-based Endeavour Silver, says his company has initiated two $500,000, five-year scholarship programs for the earth sciences at the University of British Columbia and at Queen's University in Ontario. The company has promised $100,000 per year for five ears to each of the schools.

Scholarships will be offered based on academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Students with an particular interest in economic geology, mineral exploration and geological engineers will be encouraged to apply. A portion of the funding is set aside to create a geology teaching assistant fund at Queen's.

Cooke commented, "It is common knowledge that the exploration and mining sectors are suffering from an industry-wide shortage of skilled professionals. Endeavour Silver has enjoyed some success in recent years and we feel it is both important and timely to start attracting and financing more top students in economic geology and related studies. We are therefore thrilled to be able to offer these two Endeavour Silver scholarship programs."

Endeavour (EDRSilver.com) operates the Guanacevi and Guanajuato mines in Mexico as well as several exploration projects in Latin America.
