YUKON - ALEXCO RESOURCE CORP. of Vancouver now has its mining land use permit for the redevelopment of the former Bellekeno mine at Keno Hill, 330 km north of Whitehorse. Alexco plans to extract a bulk sample from the Southwest zone and rehabilitate the workings in the hopes of making a production decision in early 2009.

PROCON MINING AND TUNNELING has been hired to drive a 650-m decline and carry out the rehabilitation work. Underground definition and exploration drilling is expected to begin in fall 2008. Drilling in 2007 outlined an inferred resource of 357,800 tonnes grading 1,394 g/t Ag, 19.0% Pb and 5.5% Zn. Surface drilling continues with two rigs.

The 35 mines that were active at Keno Hill from 1913 to 1989 produced together more than 200 million ounces of silver plus lead and zinc as byproducts.

More information about Keno Hill and Alexco's other projects is posted at www.AlexcoResource.com.
