ALBERTA – Athabasca Minerals of Edmonton and the Wood Buffalo Metis Corp. have created a joint venture to explore, develop and market aggregates from within the boundaries of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

The joint venture gives Athabasca 10 years to drill, explore and produce aggregates and industrial minerals such as granite, dolomite, limestone and silica sand from the Wood Buffalo lands. Wood Buffalo members will participate in the labour and management of the project.

This is the second agreement with aboriginal communities. Athabasca entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Metis Nation of Alberta Assn. Lakeland Local Council (Local 1909).

Athabasca has three aggregate quarries near Fort McMurray. Learn more at AthabascaMinerals.com.
