QUEBEC — The design of the Bloom Lake iron ore plant being built by Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines 400 km north of Sept-Iles has been done using software supplied by Intergraph of Huntsville, AL. BBA (www.BBA.ca) of Moun-Saint-Hilaire, QC, consulting engineers on the project, has selected SmartPlant 3-D design solution to model the plant.

The manufacturer callsSmartPlant 3-D “…the industry’s only next-generation data-centric 3-D design system for the process, marine and power industries. It is the most productive, highest quality, multi-discipline 3-D modeling environment in the world for global multi-office execution of projects.”

With the major design of the Bloom Lake project completed, BBA is also using the SmartPlant software to design the plant for the Canadian Malartic gold mine currently under development by Osisko Mining of Montreal.
