TORONTO Mark Monday, March 10 on your calendar if you want to know more about South Africa's new mineral legislation. That is the day the TORONTO BOARD OF TRADE and the SOUTH AFRICAN CONSULATE (TRADE) are sponsoring just such a seminar at the Board of Trade offices. The half-day seminar is geared to understanding the implications of the new laws as they affect the Canadian mining and investment communities.

The seminar beings with breakfast and a welcome from the South African High Commissioner to Canada, His Excellency Andre Jaquet. The opening address will be given by Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, South African minister of minerals and energy. After that Ian Cockerill, CEO of Gold Fields Ltd., will deliver the keynote address. Consecutive sessions follow covering the new legislation, black economic empowerment, opportunities in the South African mining community, and differences between North American and South African companies.

The Board of Trade urges representatives from mining companies, merchant bankers, private investment houses, securities dealers, fund managers, analysts, law firms, engineering firms, consultants, and government agencies to participate. Reserve your spot by March 3 by calling Wayne Floreani at the South African Consulate at 416-944-3422, fax 416-944-0925 or e-mail wfloreani@tisa-nafta.com.
