NEW BRUNSWICK - BLUE NOTE MINING of Montreal has been charged with the release of a contaminant detrimental to the environment during an incident that occurred in July 2007. The company said in a February 28th press release that it accepts responsibility for its actions and intended to plead guilty in a court appearance scheduled for March 3, 2008.

Blue Note intended to advise the court that its representatives advised the New Brunswick Department of Environment of the spill immediately, and offered full co-operation with the department; the spill was cleaned up by Blue Note by 5 pm on the same day that it was reported with no measurable effect on the external environment; and Blue Note has no previous record of similar offences.
