TORONTO - SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC has chosen Andrey Malyshev as the winner of its 2005 Student Merit Award. The $2,500 prize is part of the Electro-Federation Canada's (EFC) scholarship program. (This not-for-profit industry association has a website at www.ElectroFed.com.) Malyshev is a fourth year electrical engineering student at LAKEHEAD UNIVERSITY in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Last summer he worked at the Campbell mine in Red Lake as a part of PLACER DOME's student employment program. At this job, he was involved with a range of hands-on maintenance applications working with surface and underground crews. He also participated in local community events such as the annual Norseman day celebration. "I would like to achieve many things in the future," Malyshev says. His plans include pursuing graduate studies, receiving his PEO designation and obtaining an electrician A license. "Receiving the Schneider Electric Student Merit Award will help me achieve these plans." Learn more about Schneider Electric at www.Schneider-Electric.ca.
