URANIUM: Results positive from met tests, ore sorting says Kivalliq

NUNAVUT – Kivalliq Energy Corp. of Vancouver is encouraged by the positive results of the metallurgical tests and radiometric ore sorting study on material from its Angilak uranium property in the territory. The company has been exploring the property since 2008.

Locked cycle leaching and yellowcake precipitation testing was done on drill core samples from the Lac 50 trend deposits. Tests confirmed that an alkaline leach will consume low levels of reagents. After start-up only sodium hydroxide and lime will be needed. A representative yellowcake product was prepared, tested, and found to contain 70.0% U and low impurity levels.

Kivalliq also had a second set of radiometric ore sorting tests performed on a fresh split core sample weighing 222.7 kg. The first test showed a 96.7% cumulative uranium recovery. In the test, 50.8% of the rock mass was rejected (along with the 3.3% loss of uranium). A second test resulted in a 94.1% uranium recovery when 84.1% of the mass was rejected with a 5.9% loss of uranium.
